Denham Bowls Club is a warm and welcoming club based on the idea of people of all ages and levels of playing experience and skill who enjoy the game of bowls in a friendly and sociable atmosphere and in convivial surroundings.
The club, which has a long and successful history, was founded in 1922 and is located in the very attractive South Buckinghamshire village of Denham, near Uxbridge.
We are always open to new and experienced bowlers and would be delighted to welcome bowlers of any level of skill and experience, or indeed none. We benefit from the expertise of an experienced, qualified coach from whom free tuition is available, particularly for new bowlers, throughout the season. New members pay only 50% subscription for their first year. The club is also open to social members.
A recent copy of ‘Heart Matters’ magazine produced by the British Heart Foundation said that “This social sport is suitable for all levels of fitness because it is a gentle way to get active, the rules are simple and there is a social side to the game”
We have a full and varied programme of outdoor matches from April to September each year which includes competitions within the club; friendlies with other clubs, usually at the weekend. As a member, you would have the use of the green every day after 10 a.m. Every Tuesday evening there is a club friendly. There is also midweek involvement in county and local leagues, ladies' friendlies and other competitions. In the winter, we have an indoor short mat each Wednesday evening and friendly matches with indoor bowls clubs.
A lot of work, both from professionals and members of the club itself, goes into making sure our six-rink green is maintained to a high standard throughout the season.
The club maintains its own bar with club prices and a 5-star hygiene rated kitchen. The clubhouse has free Wifi. We have a large car park with free parking.
We run social events throughout the year.
The club is affiliated to Bowls England, Buckinghamshire Bowls Association, Hayes & District BA, London & Southern Counties BA and Thames Valley BA.
